- Participation in national conferences, outreach events, and ongoing committee work including:
- The 2007 NOAA National Marine Aquaculture Summit;
- Aquaculture America annual conference;
- The American Fisheries Society Annual Meeting;
- The Boston Seafood Show; and
- The Joint Subcommittee on Aquaculture.
- Development and distribution of information highlighting the benefits and challenges of marine aquaculture and its effect on the environment, including:
- Frequently Asked Questions;
- Background Information on Aquaculture and the 2007 Offshore Act;
- Highlights from the 2007 Act [including revisions from 2005];
- A Section-by-Section Analysis of the 2007 Offshore Aquaculture Act;
- Backgrounder on the National Offshore Aquaculture Act of 2007 [July 2007];
- Aquaculture Statistics;
- Global Economic Statistics for Aquaculture; and
- Map of U.S. Exclusive Economic Zones.
- Coordination of presentations on aquaculture in cooperation with the NOAA Library’s ongoing lecture series. The 2007 presentations included:
- Advancements in open ocean aquaculture technology and environmental monitoring at the University of New Hampshire’s Atlantic Marine Aquaculture Center, presented by Dr. Richard Langan of the University of New Hampshire;
- Initial research results from the Alaska King Crab Research and Rehabilitation Program, presented by Dr. Celeste Leroux, University of Alaska - Fairbanks; and
- An overview of Disease Interactions Between Farmed and Wild Fish, by Kevin Amos, National Aquatic Animal Health Coordinator for the NOAA Aquaculture Program.
